{"id":45,"date":"2008-12-28T16:56:49","date_gmt":"2008-12-29T00:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dansmith.cc\/blog\/?p=45"},"modified":"2008-12-28T17:04:07","modified_gmt":"2008-12-29T01:04:07","slug":"christmas-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dansmith.cc\/blog\/?p=45","title":{"rendered":"Christmas celebration!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas!\u00a0 I certainly did!\u00a0 My brother Dave picked me up at my house at around 12:30PM on the 24th of December.\u00a0 We braved a bit a traffic on our way to our parents house in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/La_Crescenta-Montrose,_California\">La Crescenta<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived after Sally &amp; Roger did, so Dave &amp; I needed to take a few breaks before secretly wrapping our gifts without the little girls finding out what they have received!<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed a tasty dinner of burritos and tamales, but not before stuffing ourselves full of cookies \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 After dinner, we unwrapped presents.\u00a0 Leila made me an aluminum robot.\u00a0 It&#8217;s pretty cool.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve placed it in my room.\u00a0 We had a standard gift exchange, and <a href=\"http:\/\/jennysmith.blogspot.com\/\">Jenny<\/a>&#8216;s boyfriend, <a href=\"http:\/\/steelcutoats.blogspot.com\/\">Gavin<\/a>, bought me an iTunes gift card, which is always very useful!<\/p>\n<p>We also had a joke-gift white elephant exchange.\u00a0 I scored with a handheld 100 vs one electronic handheld game.\u00a0 The best present was brought by Sally, and it was a football which held snacks.\u00a0 Each time the football was opened, it played an NFL-themed song.\u00a0 Leila was happiest with her gift of a 5 pound chocolate Easter Bunny.\u00a0 She wouldn&#8217;t let anyone get near it.\u00a0 Keana was able to open up more presents than anyone else!<\/p>\n<p>I bought a few books for Keana and Leila, and I also bought them some Remote Controlled Helicopters.\u00a0 I thought that they would really like them, but they both weren&#8217;t too excited about that gift when they opened them.\u00a0 Sally was amazed, and she was pretty stoked, so hopefully they enjoy those presents!<\/p>\n<p>On Christmas Morning I woke up and opened up our stockings.\u00a0 We were given the standard stuff (toothpaste, shampoo, etc).\u00a0 I also found out my parents gave me some new lock cores for my Yakima rack, and some random binoculars.\u00a0 (4&#215;30)<\/p>\n<p>Later, we opened presents.\u00a0 My parents also bought me an iPod Nano (to give me something to ski\/run with) and a really cool <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/2007-Pen-Fishing-Rod\/dp\/B000Q7HKUK\/ref=pd_sim_ol_1\">Coleman Fishing Pen<\/a>.\u00a0 My brother also bought me an iPod Nano (4G), but I took it back to Fry&#8217;s and bought an Airport Extreme Base Station instead.<\/p>\n<p>I bought Dave some Tahitian beer and a bottle of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lagavulin_Single_Malt\">Scotch<\/a>.\u00a0 Dave &amp; I pooled our money together to get some ceiling speakers for my parents.\u00a0 They weren&#8217;t really sure what they wanted, so we owe them a rain-check.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, I&#8217;m lucky to have a great family!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas!\u00a0 I certainly did!\u00a0 My brother Dave picked me up at my house at around 12:30PM on the 24th of December.\u00a0 We braved a bit a traffic on our way to our parents house in La Crescenta.
